The project involved the design and construction of a solar-powered water supply system comprising five borehole installations. The scope of works included the construction of five borehole pump houses, each approximately 26 square meters in size, built on concrete foundations with blockwork walling and finished to standard. The project also entailed the erection of five 33 cubic meter galvanized cold-pressed steel reservoir tanks, each mounted on 12-meter-high steel tank stands supported by reinforced concrete bases. The transmission and distribution network covered approximately 4.5 kilometers and was installed using PN16 HDPE pipes of varying diameters (50mm, 40mm, 32mm, 25mm, and 20mm), along with 50mm Grade A galvanized iron pipes complete with flanged connections and fittings. The systems were powered through the installation of five solar arrays with a total capacity of 7,500Wp, mounted on dedicated support structures. Ancillary works included the installation of approximately 200 meters of chain-link fencing around each pump station, complete with steel grille gates supported by reinforced concrete columns, as well as landscaping works around the pump and guard house areas incorporating grassing, road kerbs, and walkways in loose aggregates. The project further included the installation of Lorentz submersible solar pumps with accessories rated at 24 cubic meters per hour. To enhance community access to safe water, the system was equipped with ten double-faucet public stand posts and ten yard taps for water collection.
