The project was undertaken for Sembabule District Local Government (P.O. Box 1388, Masaka, Uganda), with Alison Consults Limited serving as the contractor. The works, which have been successfully completed and are supported by a formal Contract Agreement, comprised the design and construction of three solar-powered piped water supply systems. The scope included the construction of three borehole pump houses (each approximately 25 square meters), three guard houses (each approximately 26 square meters), and three four-stance ecosan latrines (each approximately 10 square meters). Additionally, the project involved the erection of three 80 cubic meter galvanized pressed steel reservoir tanks mounted on 12-meter-high steel tank stands, each founded on reinforced concrete bases. The transmission and distribution network covered approximately 7.0 kilometers, installed using PN16 HDPE pipes of varying diameters (63mm, 50mm, 40mm, 32mm, and 25mm), along with 75mm Grade A galvanized iron pipes complete with flanged connections and fittings. The systems were powered by the installation of three solar arrays totaling 25,000Wp, using 550W panels mounted on dedicated structures. Supporting works included the installation of approximately 250 meters of chain-link fencing around each pump station, landscaping works around the pump and guard houses including grassing, road kerbs, and walkways in loose aggregates, and the installation of Grundfos submersible solar pumps with accessories rated at 48 cubic meters per hour. To ensure community access to safe water, each system was equipped with eight double-faucet public stand posts and six yard taps for water collection.
