Construction of a mini piped water system in Oboliso Sub- County

The project involved the design and construction of a multi-site solar-powered water supply system comprising five borehole installations. The works included the construction of five borehole pump houses, each approximately 12 square meters in size, built on concrete foundations with blockwork walling and finished to standard. In addition, five 22 cubic meter steel reservoir tanks were erected, each mounted on a 10-meter-high steel tank stand supported by reinforced concrete bases. The transmission and distribution network extended approximately 12.94 kilometers, installed using PN16 HDPE pipes of varying diameters (90mm, 63mm, 40mm, 32mm, and 25mm), along with 75mm Grade A galvanized iron pipes complete with flanged connections and fittings for each system. The installations were powered by solar arrays of 108,000Wp mounted on dedicated support structures. Ancillary works included the installation of approximately 300 meters of chain-link fencing around each pump station, complete with steel grille gates supported by reinforced concrete columns, as well as landscaping works around the pump and guard house areas incorporating grassing, road kerbs, and walkways in loose aggregates. The project also involved the installation of Grundfos submersible solar pumps with accessories rated at 76 cubic meters per hour. To facilitate access to safe water for the surrounding communities, the systems were equipped with seven double-faucet public stand posts and nine yard taps for water collection.
