The project was undertaken for Terego District Local Government (P.O. Box 1, Terego, Uganda) with Alison Consults Limited serving as the contracter. The works, which have since been successfully completed and are supported by a formal Contract Agreement, involved the comprehensive design and construction of a solar-powered piped water supply system. Key components of the project included the construction of an approximately 13 square meter borehole pump house, erection of a 30 cubic meter galvanized pressed steel reservoir tank mounted on a 10-meter-high steel tank stand with a reinforced concrete base, and the excavation and installation of approximately 5.2 kilometers of transmission and distribution pipelines using PN16 HDPE pipes of varying diameters (63mm, 50mm, 40mm, 32mm, and 25mm), along with 63mm Grade A galvanized iron pipes complete with flanged connections and fittings. The system was powered through the installation of 28,120Wp solar panels (550W each) mounted on dedicated support structures. Additional works included the installation of a 240-meter chain-link fence around the pump station, landscaping of the pump house and guard house areas incorporating grassing, road kerbs, and walkways in loose aggregates, as well as the installation of a Grundfos submersible solar pump with associated accessories rated at 5 cubic meters per hour. To facilitate community access to safe water, the project also included the construction of eight double-faucet public stand posts and ten yard taps for water collection.
